The Loire Valley is the stage to 4 distinct winegrowing regions, each with its own climatic conditions and unique soil characteristics. As it flows from the center of France up to the Atlantic ocean for some 800 kilometers, the Loire cuts its way through a diversity of "terroirs". Each area is best exploited by a specific grape variety and produces a wide range of white wines with worldwide reputations. Produced in lesser quantity the reds nevertheless have identity, style, and finesse. They also have great aging potential when issued from the best estates. |
